Steven Vandervelden

Steven Vandervelden is a New York City based self-taught fine-art dance and fitness photographer. He often says he could live forever in the stress-free environment called a studio. However, when working either in a studio or outdoors, he loves the mixture of light and movement. To him every studio shoot is a unique, experimental art collaboration and begins as a blank canvas. He particularly enjoys the challenge of creating imaginative partnering images. He is influenced greatly by fashion and minimalism. Steven has worked with mostly professional dancers from throughout the world, but brings the same energy and creativity regardless of the subject and opportunity. He has been featured in numerous dance and fashion publications. He has assisted the teaching of lighting and fashion courses at the International Center for Photography in Manhattan for many years.
